September 17th - "Mare's Tail" Cirrus Clouds

Cirrus clouds generally refer to atmospheric clouds that are characterized by thin, wisplike strands. Sometimes they are called "mare's tail".

This sky is reminiscent of downy white feathers arranged in a fan or a headdress.

  1. Beautiful picture. This reminds me of Zhuge Liang, a famous Chinese general who carried a fan made of feathers. They should call it the Zhuge Liang formation. Chris
