October 7th - Power Plant Plume

There is a power plant about 5 miles from my house, and I can see the plume from the cooling stack. It is pretty impressive for a man-made cloud. I wonder what's in it - it's beautiful but a little disturbing...

September 2nd - reflections

Today has been raining all day, and it's not supposed to stop, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to post a few of my "reflection of sky" photos which have a little more scenery than sky alone.

This image fascinated me because the foot bridge covered the horizon exactly giving the impression at first glance that the sky extends to the bottom of the photo. It almost has an Escher effect.

These clouds were wispy with highlightesd edges, and the sun flare at from top center accentuated the brightness of the day. The cloud's shape was an inverse of the pond's shape which added to the interest of the composition.

At the very edge of the pristine-looking pond above, a combination of road run-off and natural muck made a great contrast to the reflection of the sky.
